The sauces that they bring to the table are delicious as well! We highly recommend the burgers, they are very tasty and unique on like classical American Burgers. They offer two sauces one is a little bit spicy and the other one is their energy sauce is a delicious garlic mayo.  Central Park Food Station restaurants offer Venezuelan goodies such as their empanadas and burgers, what makes the burgers unique is that they are very international in their taste – the potato chips and pimento mayo (I think that’s what it is) give me a taste that reminds me of the burgers I have in Europe.

5 Things You Need To Know Before Starting Your Weed Garden

For the past few years, a few areas around the world have legalized the use of cannabis. Following this news, many farmers have decided to start their weed garden as a source of income, while others have thought about creating one in their backyard. Although it might sound simple, these are not your average plant and there are many things that you need to be aware of before you create your own garden.

1. Varieties and Strains

There are thousands of marijuana strains that you can choose from, making it a little bit overwhelming as you select one for your garden. Luckily, certain popular weed strains can be quickly grown at home, such as:

  • Chemdawg – pungent and potent strain of cannabis
  • Blue Dream – a cross between indica (20%) and sativa (80%)
  • Girl Scout Cookies – sweet and earthy providing relaxation and pain relief
  • OG Kush – hybrid of indica (75%) and sativa (25%)
  • AK 47 Strain – helps with stress
  • Sour Diesel –  strong and best reliever of anxiety
  • Jack Herer – sativa dominant strain provides energy
  • Grand Daddy Purp – 100% indica, best for beginner growers
  • Gorilla Glue – high amount of THC (over 30%)
  • White Widow – results to mind opening euphoric high

Each variety has its own effects due to the difference in levels of THC, which is what makes users high. However, there is a specified limit for THC levels in the legal cannabis, so make sure that you do your research before planting them.

Some strains only grow by a few meters if you have specific measurements in mind. The most important is knowing which seeds are suited for outdoors and which ones are perfect for indoor conditions. When searching for your seedlings, you must make sure that you are dealing with a reputable supplier. You should ask them specific details about each variety that they are selling.

If you are residing in an extremely humid place, you must look for mold-resistant varieties. For those living in northern latitudes, you need to select strains that have a “short flowering period.” There are several specifications that you may wish to find in the seeds that you want to buy depending on the climate and location, which is why you always need to conduct thorough research.

plant, weed, marijuana

2. Differentiating Male and Female Plants

Growing weed in your garden is extremely tricky, especially since cannabis is one of the many plants in the world that have male and female flowers on separate plants. The former produce flimsy and small flowers that are not likely to be used for smoking. On the other hand, the latter creates fat flower buds that have high levels of psychoactive compounds.

You must know how to differentiate the two because if you have males before the plant’s flower, you will end up with a seed-filled bud. Seeded buds are considered to be lower-quality cannabis and may result in smoke that is harsh and unpleasant.

When you plant the seeds, you will more or less end up with half of the plants being female and the other half as males. Before your female plant’s flower, make sure that you get rid of all male plants.

It is quite simple to determine the sex of the cannabis plant. You can observe the pre-flowers that bud out at around the fourth week of growth. During your examination, you can use a small magnifying glass since these pre-flowers are incredibly tiny. For male plants, they produce small sacs, while females make two bracts, which then grows hair-like stigma.

There are instances wherein you will get hermaphrodite plants, which have both male and female sex organs. When you get this type of plant, that means it has been excessively stressed out due to some stressors, such as:

  • Bad weather
  • Nutrient Deficiency
  • Damage
  • Disease

It is essential to monitor your cannabis plants when they get exposed to these stressors. “Herming out” can be a result of poor genetics. If you notice any anthers or plants with pollen sacs, you must immediately remove it from your garden before it has a chance of pollinating female plants.

3. Choosing Soil

You can either plant your seed directly in the ground, or you can acquire soil and plant them in individual pots. If you wish to do the former, you must understand its composition and test it beforehand. To successfully grow your cannabis, you need land that is rich in organic matter and good drainage.

There are three fundamental components that you must take note of:

  • Sand
  • Clay
  • Silt

Soil that is composed mostly of sand is easy to work with, drains well, and can quickly warm up. However, it cannot contain nutrients, especially during the rainy seasons. If you want to use sandy soil, you have to dig large holes and add fertilizer, moss, or coco coir, which can help bind the ground together. For those living in places with hot climates, you can cover the soil with mulch to increase water retention and prevent the roots from getting hot and drying up.

Heavy clay soils cannot hold oxygen well and do not drain quickly. Using this type of soil requires you to amend it heavily. You have to add large amounts of compost, worm castings, manure, or other organic matter that can provide nutrients for the growing plant. These can also increase aeration and drainage.

The best option for you is getting silty soil as a growing medium. It is incredibly easy to work with, quickly warms up, holds moisture well, drains adequately, and has a lot of nutrients.

To ensure that you get good results, you can test the soil you want to use before planting any seeds. Through examination, you will learn the complete makeup, composition, and pH of your soil. Once you learn all this, you can select the proper materials and fertilizers.

4. Basic Needs and Growing Conditions

What cannabis plants need the most is exposure to direct sunlight for at least six hours each day. It is also crucial to ensure excellent drainage. To prevent any fungal diseases from developing, you have to provide good air circulation. You can do this by spacing out each plant at least six feet apart from each other.

You also have to enrich their soil by spreading around 2 inches of compost on top of the planting area. Every three weeks until mid-summer, you must apply fertilizer with high levels of nitrogen since this can stimulate growth. After some time, you can then switch to one that contains even higher phosphorus levels to stimulate dense and plentiful buds.

Cannabis plants need to be watered a lot as they are considered to be thirsty plants. Some large varieties can even use up to ten gallons of water a day, especially when they grow in places with warm weather. You can help your cannabis plants retain moisture by adding a layer of mulch once they grow as high as your knees. Another option is incorporating water-absorbing polymer crystals into its bed. Always remember to heavily water your plants in the morning, allowing them to have enough supply to go through the day.

Pruning is another essential thing that you have to do to maximize production. Some grow as high as 12 feet or even more, but it all depends on the variety or strain that you choose to grow. If you prune your plants, it makes it easier to manage, and you get even more buds than when you don’t. You can eliminate 30 percent of each large shoot every few weeks.

When you prune, you will end up with a bushier form rather than tall ones since it can stimulate the growth of small side shoots. Remember that you cannot prune during the mid-summer since doing so will disrupt its flower production.

weed, cannabis

5. Harvesting

To determine whether your plant is ripe and ready to harvest, you need to observe the white pistils or hairs. This will turn brown once it becomes mature. If 50% – 80% of these pistils have become reddish-brown, that is a sign for you to harvest it. Another way of telling is looking at the trichomes, which are sticky and clear substance that you can find on the plant. Once it turns amber, you can then harvest these plants.

Your cannabis plant will need around two to four months to flower. It will start forming buds in the late summer and will be ready to harvest in October. Take note that during the last one to two weeks, do not add any fertilizer to avoid having any of it stored in the plant.

You can cut the buds but leave around six to eight inches of stem and take off all the leaves. You can then dry them by hanging them from their stems in a warm but shaded area for a week. Once it has dried thoroughly, it is then ready to use. Trim each bud from the stem and store in a glass jar.

Remember that the type of high you get from the marijuana will also depend on when you harvest your buds. The amount of time you give it to flower is significant since it determines the levels of THC and how developed its glands are in the plants. THC is what makes you experience the high sensation that you feel when smoking weed. As mentioned, trichomes are one of the best indicators of the plant’s ripeness. Here is a guide that you can follow:

  1. Clear trichome – if you harvest during this phase, the resulting product will not have much potency.
  2. Cloudy trichome – using weed harvested at this period will result in an energetic high.
  3. Amber trichome – you will experience body or couchlock high.
  4. Mixed trichome – users will experience a combination of both head and body high.

To properly observe and examine these trichomes, you will need a microscope or even a handheld pocket scope.

Tips on Weed Growing

  1. Your cannabis plant may quickly get damaged in climates with temperatures below 40°F. If you live in areas that frequently experience this, you should consider using a greenhouse or any other protective enclosure.
  2. Set-up a windbreak if you live in windy areas to avoid branches from breaking or excessively stressing out your plants.
  3. Different pests could destroy your weed garden. If deer are roaming freely around your area, make sure to build a fence around your property.
  4. Insects are even more dangerous since they can easily pass through gates. To increase your plant’s resistance, you must keep it healthy and strong. Also, keep it away from other vegetable crops and flowers.
  5. When you examine the trichomes, make sure to wear either latex or nitrile gloves since it is very sticky. You must also be gentle with how you handle the plants since you could lose THC if you mishandle it.
  6. Remove old leaves that may have turned yellow since the energy provided for buds could significantly decrease. However, only do this when it is near the harvest schedule.
  7. Remember to start flushing your plants before the harvest to remove any residual chemicals or nutrients that have stored in the flowers.

Whether you are hoping to get an income from this industry or you simply want to have an accessible source of weed, it is essential to know how to grow them. That way, you can ensure the quality of your marijuana and foresee what kind of high you can get from using it.

Mixing Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms| Is it Dangerous?

Effects of Mixing Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to mixing marijuana & magic mushrooms? That’s probably why you’re here, right? To make sense of how to mix this uneven duo of the psychedelic world, we’ll look at what happens when marijuana and magic mushrooms join hands in the center of the body. Please remember everyone’s body is different and may have other reactions as well.

It’s practically unsuitable to mix two drugs. Or is it…? Polydrug use usually influences bad trips, hospital trips, and sudden death. Nonetheless, consider the possibility of mixing two non-synthetic plants like marijuana and mushrooms.

Marijuana and magic mushrooms are amongst the top natural drugs consumed by individuals. One is the flower of a plant, while the other is a fungus. This has made people ask if it is safe to mix the two, and what are the effects?

What is Marijuana? What does it do to your body?

To experience how marijuana and magic mushrooms work together, we have first to understand how they work individually.

When you read articles online, you might discover cannabis has a lot of effects, which can be energizing, sedating, stimulating, relaxing, euphoric, and mellowing.

This is due to the numerous cannabis strains found in the market, which all offer different effects. These strains are usually classified under two primary categories, such as Sativa and Indica.

marijuana, plant, Mixing Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms

Despite the strain, cannabis generally makes the user feel “extraordinary”: the eyes become brighter, and the ears become sharper. The mind runs along a distinct path, which might be bizarrely amusing, shockingly insightful, or somewhat annoying.

The user may experience high energy levels and a big appetite for delicious junk food. Because when the user is high, their taste buds and everything about food becomes so much more flavorful. After a good snack, the user may feel sleepy and relaxed.

What are Magic Mushrooms? What does it do to your body?

Consuming magic mushrooms makes the user feel unique energy flowing through their bodies. The user may see colors, patterns, or sounds differently. It usually offers peace of mind while making strange connections that come from the external environment —difficult life decisions become easy to handle. And may even help with solving life’s most difficult problems.

When users consume magic mushrooms, they may find it easy to speak truth to others and say exactly what’s on their mind. This can cause a sense of relief but may also be something that can bite you in the butt afterward. So that aspect of tripping is unpredictable, some people tend to say a lot, while others may just become very quiet.

mushrooms, forest, Mixing Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms

Generally, mushrooms deliver both upsides and downsides. They can bring humor, passion, love, while also bringing sorrow, fear, and anxiety.

If the mushrooms are used for therapeutic reasons, be prepared that the mushrooms will show you what you need and not necessarily what you want.

The set and setting are very important because the consequences come along with your initial mood. If you are feeling nervous and have lots of doubts, your trip may not be as successful as you have imagined. But if you are coming in with a calm and collective stance, you are more likely to have a good trip.

The acclaimed visualizations of mushrooms will differ depending on the batch and dose. On mushrooms, trends in the visual field turn into severe hallucinations: a messed-up tire turns into a coiled snake and a tree transforms into a smiling wizard. That being stated, the hallucinations aren’t delusions: the user usually realizes these hallucinations.

Some people have very intense hallucinations, while others have intense visuals when they close their eyes. They may see neon lights, geometric shapes, or be in another world. It depends on the person, setting, and dose.

How are Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms Similar?

Marijuana and magic mushrooms are similar in many ways. Both alter our perspectives in significant ways. They facilitate innovation, inspire joy and humor as well as improve the beauty of art and nature. They additionally have a negative side, opening pathways for internal demons and negative thoughts.

Cannabis and magic mushrooms contain significant compounds including THC and psilocybin that ignite the body. Cannabinoids and terpenes result in the entourage effect while psilocin, baeocystin, and various chemicals unite to deliver the mushroom effect.

What happens when I combine the Mixing of Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms?

When mixing magic mushrooms and cannabis, the mushroom trip should be the general focal point, but with marijuana, it helps to tame or exacerbate the trip. Most users report that marijuana shades the mushroom come-up which improves the peak.

What are the effects of Mixing Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms?

Positive effects

When you consume an energizing Sativa-dominant cannabis strain during a mushroom trip, it can help shift the experience for the better. The mixture of marijuana and mushrooms can drive the mind into euphoria and increase hallucinations. This is great for those who want to take fewer mushrooms and feel out the trip first, weed can always be added to make the experience more profound.

If the “high” is taking you towards a negative direction, cannabis can be used as a softener to bring you back, especially if you smoke cannabis regularly. Yet, some users have reported that weed has made their trip much more intense, causing it very hard to recognize reality.

The most effective way to mix cannabis and magic mushrooms is to smoke weed when you have finished consuming mushrooms, preferably 4 hours after your done with the trip. If you plan to smoke cannabis an hour after the trip, cannabis has the power to bring back the mushroom psychoactivity and can set you in for another hour trip.

Negative effects

Despite the positive results, both cannabis and mushrooms can tend to be harmful. If the science is correct, the user may become seriously disturbed with their demons. During stressful moments, cannabis and mushrooms can lead to confusion and chaos.

For some users, the intensity was a positive experience, while others say their trip was a nightmare. Weed has also been known to not only intensify but also linger the longevity of the trip.

Furthermore, there’s no certainty that cannabis will modify your trip; toking may worsen your period of clarity, leaving you in a state of lethargy and frustration. Coming out of the trip may be very tough depending on the dosage of both mushrooms and weed. It’s advisable to start your mushroom trip without marijuana.

How do I control the effects if I overdose?

sad, sitting , Mixing Marijuana & Magic Mushrooms

An overdose on marijuana is usually known as “greening out.” Don’t freak out. You’ll need to tell yourself that what you seem to be experiencing may be unpleasant. Its recommended to keep calm, find a quiet place, and take deep breaths.

Remember that the effects will begin to evaporate in a matter of minutes or hours (based on the strain and dosage). You will probably feel sleepy and may even remove excess sweat.

Some users attempt to sleep off the high, but other people may find it difficult to “turn off their brains.” When this happens, find a quiet place and take a brisk walk. However, for security measures, don’t walk if you feel dizzy or unable to get up. It’s important you lay down on your left side and wait for the effects to wear off.

The choice to mix cannabis and magic mushrooms is a personal decision. THC and psilocybin can be an incredible mixture: when mixed, ideally the marijuana can draw up the unusual and slacking portions of a shroom trip, offering a very delightful and pure experience.

Nonetheless, when you fail to plan the mixture, cannabis and mushrooms can bring drastic effects like paranoia.

It’s recommended to become comfortable with either magic mushrooms or marijuana before attempting both together and beginning with low dosages to test out how it acts on your body. Just remember, the setting, people, and the dosage is the ultimate factor in your trip.

Can I go through TSA with CBD OIL?

Cannabidiol is a compound that is derived from the hemp plant. Think of the hemp plant as the cousin of the marijuana plant.

More than 80 chemicals have been identified in the Cannabis plant, known as cannabinoids. While delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main active ingredient in cannabis, it is also derived from hemp, which includes only minimal amounts of THC.

CBD is cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent component after marijuana in terms of active ingredients. The CBD is an essential component of medical marijuana; it is derived directly from the hemp plant, a marijuana crop relative. Although CBD (one of the hundreds) is a part of cannabis, it does not induce a high on its own.

What does CBD do?

There are antipsychotic effects of cannabidiol.

The exact cause of these effects is not clear. Yet CBD tends to stop chemical degradation in the brain that causes pain, appetite, and mental function. Preventing this chemical’s degradation and growing its blood levels tends to reduce psychotic symptoms linked with disorders such as schizophrenia. CBD may also inhibit some of the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) psychoactive properties. It also appears that CBD can reduce pain and anxiety.

CBD has been recognized for a broad range of health problems.

Still, the best scientific evidence is its efficacy for curing some of the cruelest syndromes of pediatric epilepsy, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which usually do not respond to antiseizure drugs. CBD has been able to reduce the frequency of hallucinations in numerous studies, and in some instances, it has been able to prevent them altogether.

CBD can provide an option to treat various types of chronic pain.

A study by the European Journal of Pain showed that CBD applied to the skin using an animal model could help reduce pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study showed the pathway by which CBD reduces inflammation and neuropathic pain, two of persistent pain’s most complicated forms to manage. In this field, further human study is needed to substantiate CBD proponents’ statements regarding pain control.

Can I pass TSA Checkpoint with CBD?

Recreational and medical marijuana in some states is legal, but the TSA has always made it clear that marijuana is illegal when flying on a plane.

The TSA has quietly updated it’s “What can I bring?” page on medical marijuana to note that passengers can now fly with some forms of CBD oil and one FDA-approved hemp-derived medication.

Although CBD oil is legal, not everyone at TSA is up to speed on how to distinguish between CBD and marijuana, so for additional screening, you may find yourself delayed in security. If you are traveling internationally, it is up to you to determine if CBD oil is legal both at your starting point and at your destination.

Ultimately, if you plan to put the CBD tincture in your carry-on, you need to make sure that it falls within the 3.4 ounces or less.

What TSA’s website states on CBD?

The approved CBD rule of TSA, revised in May 2019. Their website states:

“Marijuana and certain cannabis-infused products, including some Cannabidiol (CBD) oil, remain illegal under federal law, except for products containing no more than 0.3 percent THC on a dry weight basis or approved by FDA.”

Under this policy, the guidelines of the TSA are consistent with those of the federal government. So long as the hemp-derived CBD product contains 0.3% and fewer of THC, you can fly with it. Because cannabis naturally absorbs high amounts of CBD and minimal amounts of THC (always 0.3% or less), some CBD oils are derived from hemp.

Not all CBD oil comes from hemp, though.

It is also possible to extract CBD oils from marijuana. Many people prefer to have more THC content, and marijuana is legal in many states.

Do not make the mistake of bringing it with you on a flight if this fits the CBD oil. CBD oils derived from marijuana were prohibited under the rule of the TSA.

On the other side, hemp-derived CBD oil is allowed in both checked and carry-on baggage; it is 3.4 ounces or fewer for carry-ons. Though, that doesn’t guarantee you’re not going to run into any problems. The TSA points out that their screening procedures center on risks to safety, not detecting marijuana.

TSA officers are not seeking CBD oil.

But if they find any marijuana traces as part of your security screening, they can tap into a law enforcement officer to better assess the situation— even if what you’ve got is Cannabis oil and not marijuana:

“TSA’s screening procedures rely on the protection and are intended to identify potential threats to aircraft and travelers. Accordingly, TSA security officers are not searching for marijuana or other illegal drugs. Still, TSA will refer the matter to a law enforcement officer if any illegal substance is found during security screening. TSA officers are required to report to local, state, or federal authorities any suspected violations of law.

The TSA has not differentiated between marijuana and some items extracted from hemp in the past. Hemp derivatives produce little to no THC, the high-producing psychoactive agent in cannabis.

The new rule does not alter the TSA’s ban on other forms of marijuana, including THC-infused cannabis products and CBD oils. But as the TSA does not conduct on-site screening at airport security checkpoints, it is unknown whether TSA officers will determine if a drug contained THC. If a doubt arises, a spokesman for the TSA said that the matter would be referred to local law enforcement.

airport, travel

The Bottom Line

If you’re traveling with CBD oil derived from hemp, you’ll probably be fine.

You may need to undergo additional screening and answer product questions, but you can finally get on your flight.

The thing is, not all TSA agents are well versed in the difference between CBD oil and marijuana, and testing might take longer than you anticipate, leading you to miss your flight and stress you out at the very least. The ultimate decision is based on whether an object is approved through the checkpoint with the TSA agent. Also, be sure if there is a THC content before packing as the rules for that are very different.

Can I Mix Alcohol and Weed? What Are The Dangers?

Alcohol and weed are two of the most popular recreational substances in the world. However, can these two substances be safely mixed? Is it safe to smoke weed after drinking alcohol, and vice versa? Let’s take a closer look at these two recreational substances in order to find out what they do to your body, and whether or not it is safe to combine them.

What is alcohol?

Alcohol refers to an alcoholic drink or a drink which contains a substance called ethanol. Ethanol is produced through the fermentation of various foods, such as grains, fruits, and sugar. Alcohol comes in many different forms and can be consumed “straight” without any additions or as part of a mixed alcoholic drink. Common alcohol drinks include wine, beer, vodka, rum, and gin.

What does alcohol do to your body?

Some alcohol is immediately absorbed into your bloodstream through the mouth, whereas the rest travels to your stomach and intestines where it is absorbed. The fact that most alcohol is absorbed through the stomach and small intestines are the reason why it can sometimes take a while for you to feel drunk from alcohol, as your body still needs to fully process the majority of the alcohol consumed. For most people, this takes about an hour to 90 minutes.

The more alcohol you drink, the higher your blood alcohol concentration level; the higher this level, the more you begin to feel “drunk which can cause feelings of euphoria, lightheadedness and sometimes even dizziness. Alcohol can impact your ability to think clearly as well as impact your motor skills and your ability to control yourself.

What is Weed?

Weed, also called marijuana, refers to a drug derived from the cannabis plant. Weed is a combination of dried Cannabis flowers which is typically consumed in a “cigarette” or “joint” format, though it can also be consumed as edible or vaped. Weed can be used recreationally as well as for medicinal purposes. Recreational weed has become legal in many different parts of the world over the past few years, including several states in the United States.

What does weed do to your body?

For the most part, the effect of weed on your body is similar regardless of how you consume it, though different types of weed consumption can alter how long it takes for your body to feel the effects. In general, inhaling weed through marijuana smoke results in the quickest-acting effects whereas consuming it as an edible takes the longest.

When you smoke or otherwise consume weed, it enters your bloodstream and from there begins to impact your body. Weed triggers a release of dopamine, which causes you to feel high and euphoric. Weed can cause impaired judgment, a slowed reaction time, and more difficulty controlling your motor controls and coordination, as well as an increased appetite, also know as munchies. And if you have had munchies after smoking weed, then you know that you have experienced rummaging through your kitchen cabinets or getting a large order of take out food to satisfy your hunger.

What will happen if I mix alcohol and weed together?

What happens when you mix alcohol and weed together? It will depend on a number of factors, including the amount of alcohol consumed, the amount of weed consumed, as well as which of the two you decide to use first.

While mixing alcohol and weed is not inherently dangerous or even a bad idea, there are some things you will need to consider when mixing the two so that you don’t suffer any ill effects. Let’s take a closer look at what happens when these two substances are combined.

Alcohol before Weed

If you drink alcohol before you decide to use weed, then the effects of the weed will be intensified. The reason for this is because having alcohol in your bloodstream increases the amount of THC absorbed into your bloodstream when you smoke or consume weed. The end result of this is a much stronger high.

In some cases, the result of drinking alcohol before consuming weed is something referred to as a “green out.” This can cause nausea, excess sweating, and dizziness.

In general, it is recommended that you don’t drink alcohol before weed if you are sensitive to weed or THC or if you don’t have a lot of experience drinking before consuming weed. It is best to proceed with some caution the first time you try this to avoid ‘green out.’

Weed Before Alcohol

If you smoke or consume weed before drinking alcohol: The results of this are not as conclusive as what happens when you drink before smoking weed. Some studies have suggested that smoking weed before consuming alcohol results in a slower rise of blood alcohol levels, which can delay a feeling of drunkenness. This delayed feeling of drunkenness can cause problems because you may consume more alcohol than you normally would in order to feel drunk, which can result in much higher blood alcohol content than you intended. And then it hits you like a bus, boom. Party over.

If you do decide to smoke weed before drinking alcohol, remember not to drink as much, because your feelings of drunkenness are likely delayed. It is better to wait an hour or two before having another drink than to drink too much, too quickly and wind up excessively drunk.

Other Thoughts

Notably, some studies have found that consuming alcohol and weed together can increase your risk of dependence on weed, alcohol, or both substances. Some studies have also found that if you consume alcohol and smoke weed then your cognitive function will be noticeably decreased compared to your cognitive function after just smoke or just consuming alcohol. Nonetheless, your body coordination will be off with either substances, but especially both.

Final Thoughts

Combining alcohol and weed is not necessarily dangerous, but many people choose to avoid combining the two because it can result in intensified effects which some people may not be able to handle. In general, it is better to either avoid combining the two or to start small so that you can see how your body handles a combination of alcohol and weed. And remember: always err on the side of caution when it comes to mixing these two substances until you know how your body will react because everybody is different.

Addicted To Your Phone? Digital Minimalism May Be The Way Out!

Minimalism. The term, in general, is finding its way in today’s collective consciousness. Modern society is only getting more hurried and complicated, and so many people are looking for ways to simplify. This has translated into concepts such as materialistic minimalism (owning less stuff) and downsizing to tiny homes. But another challenge we face is too much screen time. This is where digital minimalism comes into play.

You may have heard the term ‘digital creep.’ It is the persistent march of tech and gadgets into our lives in the form of television, computers, tablets, and smartphones. All of these are easily accessible, to the point where we spend the majority of our free time (and maybe even work time) online. And while spending hour upon hour playing online games, reading that great article, or watching YouTube can be fun, it minimizes our productivity and robs us of the good ole’ fashioned interacting face-to-face with people.

As a result, many of us are feeling quite uneasy with the notion, and are looking for ways to downsize our screen time. Well look no further, we are here to tell you the steps you can take to minimize your screen time.

What is Digital Minimalism?

Just as material possessions, in general, can be a distraction to what is important in our lives, so can digital things as well. Technology has become an increasing mainstay in our lives and will continue to be. While they were primarily made to aid in our everyday lives by making daily tasks easier, they can also take on an encroaching aspect.

Case in point: You’ve seen a group of kids together. They are not interacting with each other – they all have their faces down on their smartphones. And there is a good chance they are texting each other, even though they are physically next to each other! Instead of striking up a conversation with a stranger on the bus and potentially making a new friend, we are on our phones, headphones on to block out the world, reading the headlines, or playing the latest game.

This behavior has the very real potential to distract us from what really matters.

Digital Minimalism (DM) is a direct response to this phenomenon. We as a modern species are sounding the horn to all those affected that there is a better way. The call to action here is to consider very carefully about our relationship with technology – to be cognizant of how much time and attention we are spending on our devices. It is recognizing how and why we are using our devices, and what the trade-offs are to our relationships and to our work.

This does not mean that DM is all things to all people. Everyone has their own habits and reasons why they’re thinking about DM or even wondering if they should at all. It helps to break it down a bit, so consider these three things:

1. The use of technology should be intentional – not habitual.

Let’s face it. Looking at our smartphones can be habit-forming. Whether it is for social media, that click-bait article, or that coveted text from our ex. If we’re continuously checking our phones, we have a problem, Houston.

Technology is for making things better, not for making us FEEL better.

It’s easy to misuse technology because it’s readily accessible and cheap. But it can also aid in our shortcomings and be a powerful means of short-term emotional relief. If we’re feeling bored, sad, anxious, or depressed, what do we do? Many of us reach for our cell phones so we can immerse ourselves in distraction. By avoiding our emotions with tech, we’re ultimately cultivating a long-term problem. Tech should be used to make things that are meaningful and to better the world as a whole.

3. Technology should NEVER come before people.

Social media – the very name suggests that we have a lot of friends (be honest with yourself, they’re just followers.) But just because we have a world of people we can connect with online, it is nothing compared to face-to-face interactive relationships. The harsh reality is that too much screen time isolates us from a personal connection.

What are the Benefits of DM?

Minimalism, by definition, allows us to remove the clutter in our lives. As a result, when we practice Digital Minimalism, we have more time, energy, and most of all attention, to concentrate on the things that matter most to us, whatever that may be. It gives us the freedom to pursue that hobby we’ve been wanting to do, to read that novel that’s been collecting dust on our shelf, or to finally make lunch plans with an old friend.

And those benefits just scratch the surface. When our phones are put away and we are forced to interact with the world, we focus better and give more attention to what is going on around us. As we move about in the world and talk with people, we may even have conversations that enlighten and inspire us to try a new thing. We may even make a new friend in the process. And that is much better than Tinder.

Having less digital clutter means less clutter in our brains. Our imagination starts to soar.

How Do I Get Started?

Don’t get me wrong. Technology makes modern life better than anything our elders experienced. But how do we get the best out of it while protecting ourselves from the bad habits? The best way is to first recognize how technology is adversely affecting your life. No doubt you have related to at least one of the examples above. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you like being physically active but find that your screen time encroaches on your exercise routine?
  • Do you want to stay in touch with friends, but more often find yourself on social media or listening to the latest podcast instead of meeting them or give them a call?
  • During social situations or meetings at work, are you intermittently on your phone rather than being fully engaged?
  • Is your productivity suffering, or that project you’ve wanted to start at home been put on hold?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these, you’d do well to benefit from DM. People love lists, so here’s one on how to get started.

  1. Set aside one full day, perhaps on a weekend, where you don’t use technology at all.
  2. When you go out shopping or for a meal, leave your phone at home.
  3. Pick one evening per week where you don’t watch television or stream videos. Instead, play a board game with a loved one or (gasp) pick up the phone and CALL a friend.
  4. Spend an hour (or more, if you want) taking a long walk, run, or bike ride without headphones.
  5. Delete all of your social media apps from your phone for one week. And then see if you really need them back after that.
  6. For one week, only get your news from the radio in your car or a newspaper. Not online.
  7. When you do read an interesting or funny thing online, actually engage with the person who posted it by sending a message, don’t just move on to the next thing.
  8. On your next trip to a new place, try to get there by using a paper map, not your navigation app.

You may just find that by employing several (or ALL) of these, that you don’t actually need to be online as much as you are.

Final Thoughts

It’s obvious that technology isn’t going away, it has too many good things going for it in other areas that actually HELP us. But we CAN greatly minimize the negative impact it has on our lives. We just need to be disciplined and have to WANT it. With a little practice, we can start to go back to the important things in our lives – our real-world connections with people.

What is Microdosing Marijuana? (weed) And How Do I Get Started?

Have you ever thought about making the best from your “wild hits” without ending stoned, embarrassed, or paranoid? Perhaps, microdosing could be the way out!

Microdosing marijuana is simply consuming marijuana in the smallest amount possible while maintaining a balanced state and reaping the therapeutic value of a dose maximally, without suffering any side effects, such as the psychedelic state of mind you would normally get.

Sounds good, right?

In practice, it involves the mastery of regulating the milligrams, quantity, timing, and the temperature in your chosen mode of Marijuana consumption. There’s a whole lot to it than just having a “microdose”. In this article, we will talk about what microdosing really is and how to start.

Why “Microdosing”?

While there are many “weed fans”, there are many reasons why cannabis enthusiasts consume weed. And many are advocating to use less of THC for a more medicinal approach, which is become more and more trendy.

The fan base is just only increasing with the recent discovery that lower doses of THC combined with a more vibrant cannabinoid profile are most effective for a lot of medical and recreational purposes. That is the ultimate combination right there!

This makes microdosing an inalienable part of cannabis consumption, especially for lovers looking to harvest the optimal benefits of each dose.

No doubt, microdosing cannabis has been mainly associated with the possible mind-altering/ psychedelic side to which THC is a significant ingredient. So it is somewhat tricky to determine the threshold of microdosing because of the several dynamic factors to consider in each person or the kind of consumption they choose to take.

There’s no magic “dosage”, it all depends on the individual.

Despite the dynamics involved, recent research provides some standard directions for both beginner and professional enthusiasts alike to enjoy the optimal benefits of marijuana at every point of their use.

Note: This article includes suggested doses. I am not a doctor and am not held liable for suggested doses. Each person is uniquely crafted to hold an optimal dosage of THC.

Benefits of Microdosing Marijuana

Many people may approach weed consumption with purposeful intent, either to get a medical benefit or just get blatantly high out of their minds. The absence of reliable dosage and ingredient information may turn their experiences toward the south. So start small!

Microdosing marijuana is being explored as a viable treatment for depression, as well as boosting creativity.

If you are someone that struggles with constant anxiety, knots in your stomach, and the battle of thoughts in your head, then this is something that could help you.

While cannabis can help with depression and anxiety, it can also help with inflammation as well as 40 other ailments. Microdosing is great for pain relief and still being able to stay focused on daily tasks. Which brings me to…

You Can Still Function

People that decide to microdose prefer to stay grounded. They desire a soothing solution to undertake their daily life by functioning better at the workplace, social gatherings and even take care of their kids.

Reduces Side Effects

Consuming too much THC can overwhelm the cannabinoid (CB) receptors in the body and overstimulate them into producing paranoia and intoxicating negative effects.

In summary, Microdosing stalls the biphasic effects of cannabis and promotes its therapeutic accuracy as a treatment.

What Conditions Are Suitable For Microdosing Marijuana?

The accurate consumption of THC poses a proven treatment for several ailments such as:

  • Anxiety
  • Migraine
  • Stress
  • Chronic pain
  • ADHD
  • Inflammation
  • Indigestion

THC and other psychedelic extracts have their mood-altering ability to thank for its emotional alleviation, creative inspiration, insights, and different palatable experiences.

Recent studies suggest that microdosing THC concentrates can help overrun the symptom of senility and aging-related memory loss. These studies justify that the introduction of the right psychoactive dose of THC to the minds of the older class can result in social uplifting, thereby making them feel younger, active, and more agile.

How to Get Started With Microdosing?

Microdosing with Concentrates

pot, cannabis, concentrate

Microdosing concentrates most times depend on the mode of consumption. However, for a standard rule, everyone can start with 2 drops/1mg of THC concentrate.

Once you take a dose for the first time, you should wait for about 30 minutes to 1 hour fully to assess how your body responds to the dose.

Where you feel a little lightheadedness, you should reduce your next few doses to one drop to build your tolerance level.

When you are cool with 2 drops for a start, you can increase your doses for the following days with one more drop until you are able to mark your highest threshold. Once you can do so, then congratulations; you just enjoyed your optimal therapeutic dose for that day.

Microdosing With Edibles

Microdosing edibles are somewhat tricky but also the most accurate. Consequently, you will be required to do the following stringently:

Pay attention to the dosage instructions on the product packaging as it will say how much THC is in the edible. Make sure to also take note if it says “per piece” or “per package”.

Make sure you have something in your stomach before going to the next stage.

It is advisable to start with 2.5 mg of THC or 5-10 mg of CBD. 1mg would be more appropriate for the beginner to kick start this test. You may need to split the total edible into equal pieces of 1mg each for edible consumption.

After you eat your edible, wait for an hour or 2 to allow the edible to digest and diffuse into the bloodstream. Many will make the mistake of taking another edible because they think that it’s not doing anything. And then it HITS you. And takes you to another dimension real quick. So don’t underestimate edibles.

Only after an hour can you successfully determine an accurate response to the intake. Depending on the outcome, you can decide to increase your dose or build your tolerance level subsequently.

Microdosing With Cannabis Flower (Smokes And Vape)

pens, vape, weed

Using vape pens is much preferable to microdose because you can adjust the temperature levels to the lowest heat, unlike its dabbing counterpart.

If you want to get your experiment right, it is also advisable to hold each inhale for about 2 seconds before exhaling, and then wait for 10 minutes and see any physical change before consuming further. The same goes for smoking.

Can I Do This Every Day?

Oh yes! It is possible to microdose every day, but a bit of advice, it’s important that you take it slow and steady. You might want to be more mindful of all precautions and consequences such as dosing on an empty stomach, overindulgence, and inadvertently overdosing. For the sake of the latter, a little bit of prolonged sleep may be all to get you back and bouncing.

Final Thought

Microdosing is an excellent way of reaping the benefits of marijuana without being high as a kite. The most important thing to remember is to find your specific dosage as it depends on person to person. Start small and build your tolerance. The beauty in microdosing is that you can do it on a daily basis to treat ailments without the psychedelic effects of THC.

8 BEST ways to boost your child’s IQ

Children are the future, and what better way to help give your child their best start in life than helping to boost their IQ? As a parent, it is a significant and often sobering responsibility to help children grow and mature; if you want to help your child’s IQ get a boost early on in life, take a closer look at these 8 ways you can help increase your child’s IQ.

How to Expand Children’s IQs

A child’s intelligence is based on a number of factors. It is stated that a Child’s brain does the most growing by the age of 7, therefore, Children’s brains are growing and developing at an exponential rate by the time that they reach kindergarten, so those early years are essential for helping to create the building blocks for more advanced intelligent development later on.

The ways to expand children’s IQs can be surprising for many parents, who assume that “cramming” facts into children is the best way to boost intelligence. On the contrary, boosting IQ is typically done through experiences and emotional and social connections that allow the brain to develop essential pathways and foundations for more advanced skills later on in life.

8 Ways to Boost Kid’s IQ

The following are 8 excellent ways that you can boost your child’s IQ.

1. Avoid electronic toys as much as possible

toys, children, IQ

Studies have shown that playing with non-electronic toys is better for cognitive development when compared to electronic toys because electronic toys do not encourage creative thinking and problem-solving.

When your child uses an electronic toy, they are effectively been spoon-fed information; with non-electronic toys, they are the ones directing the information. Opt for non-electronic classic toys like blocks, dolls, figures, trains or car sets, and so on rather than electronic games or sets.

The key is to find toys that encourage your child to direct the game, rather than being directed by an electronic toy.

2. Let your child be bored

bored, child, window

It’s common in modern parenting to think that children should never be bored and should be constantly stimulated by some external factors, whether it’s a movie, toys, or interaction with their parents.

However, boredom can be beneficial for children’s cognitive development. The reason for this is because boredom encourages children to keep themselves occupied, which will result in free play that is not directed by an external source.

Studies have shown that free play promotes the growth of the cerebral cortex, improves memory, and helps children learn more effectively. If you have trouble letting your kid be bored, try creating a scheduled “boredom time” where you allow your child to find something to do on their own.

3. Surround your child with books

book, child, IQ

Books, books–and more books are some of the keys to boosting your child’s IQ.

One of the best analogies for what reading will do to your child’s brain is this: reading is for brain development as barbells are to muscle growth. If you want your child to have a higher IQ, better memory, stronger literacy skills, and other cognitive benefits, then start reading to them as early as possible.

Children who regularly read books have a higher IQ compared to children who don’t. In addition to reading regularly to your child, encourage your child to love books by surrounding them with books in your home.

Have a short, child accessible shelf that your child can reach when they want to pick out a book; encourage them to begin reading early with reading programs; and make sure you lead by example!

Children who see their parents read for fun are more likely to associate with reading for fun on their own.

4. Expose your child to different experiences

adventure, experience, IQ

Children’s brain development requires plenty of new experiences and situations in order to thrive.

You can help boost your child’s IQ by routinely exposing them to all sorts of different experiences, such as taking them to museums, nature walks, restaurants, festivals; anything that exposes them to a new and interesting environment can be beneficial for their brain.

You can even encourage your child to come up with places to visit, as this will help foster their curiosity.

5. Stock up on crafts

Doing crafts is a great way to encourage children to engage in creative play that helps boost their IQ and even helps with other skills such as motor skill development.

Crafts can include paints, musical instruments, construction paper, play-doh or craft clay, and anything else to keep their hands occupied.

6. Ask your children their opinion

mom. child, laughing

One of the keys behind developing your child’s higher IQ is to encourage them to think–and this can be done by asking them for their opinion on a variety of topics.

For example, if they ask you why the grass is green, ask them why they think the grass is green.

Even if their answer is incorrect, this type of cognitive thinking is important for increasing IQ and helping them develop independent thoughts and critical thinking skills.

7. Let your child do hard things (within reason)

You can help increase your child’s IQ by allowing them to do hard things on their own rather than always doing it for them—within reason, of course, with age and safety kept in mind.

For example, let’s say your child says they want to plant a garden. Don’t buy everything and do it for them: find ways for them to earn money, and then show them the right way to plant it.

This type of experience is a great way to boost their IQ while showing them the practical results of their hard work.

8. Don’t “dumb down” your language all the time

You don’t need to talk like an academic scholar, but studies have shown that parents who talk to their children like people—rather than talking to them like babies or as if they are incapable of understanding various concepts—actually give a boost to their child’s IQ and other cognitive development.

Explain things to your child when you see them, and allow them to ask questions even if they may not totally understand the answer.

Final Thoughts

As a parent, you are no doubt dedicated to helping your child get the best start in life that they can.

If you want to help your child by increasing their IQ, consider the above 8 ways that you can help boost their IQ with relatively simple actions that will have significant results for your child’s future.
